About NAT
I see Damage and brokenness as a chance to create a new narrative.
In parallel with healing from a period of burnout, which kicked off around 7 years ago, I discovered how small, simple stitches in a pair of my favourite jeans could take them from being tossed aside to returning as a wardrobe staple and feeling even more meaningful to me.
Repair became a metaphor. I learned that it happens in small, sometimes faltering steps. Often, you have to go back a few steps and try something different, but it’s always worth paying attention to the damage and tapping into your resourcefulness to create new and better stories.
In our broken world, where we’re forced into the take-make-use-waste* cycle, repairing something is a radical act. And I’m here for it.
I’m a creative generalist.
I live and work on Mumirimina Country on the eastern shore of nipaluna/Hobart. Alongside working at my local public library, I also:
+ Teach visible mending and mend for friends and family
+ Make art for the Radical Postcard Club on Patreon
+ Volunteer for my local repair cafe, community garden, and PlasticWise sewing bees
+ Write a free Substack newsletter
+ I use permaculture ethics and principles to grow some food and wrangle chickens
+ Spend time building community connections and mutual aid through a couple of skill-share and working bee groups.
+ Hang with my fam, sometimes adventuring (mountains are our fave)
