Visible Mending Workshop in nipaluna/Hobart, Tasmania [Custom]
Let’s create a visible mending workshop that’ll be perfect for your bunch of friends or community group.
I’ll come to you - maybe at your workplace, community space, or around your dining table with a group of friends.
You can decide how many people will attend, how long we’ll mend for, and what you’ll learn - see guidelines below.
What will you learn?
The beauty of creating a custom workshop is that we can tailor what you’ll learn based on what you’re interested in and what your sewing skill level is. Maybe you’re really interested in mending knitted garments (my most popular technique to teach), or maybe you’re patching jeans a lot, or fine Marino thermal and leggings. It’s so much better if you get to learn the skills you will actually use.
Your workshop can be broadly about all types of visible mending, or more detailed. It can be more hands-on or less, depending on our time frame. And beginners and lifelong sewers will all learn new skills.
GUIDELINES
I like to make sure everyone gets to do some hands-on practice and one-on-one time with me, so 15 people is the maximum number that works well, but 6-8 people is the sweet spot.
3 hours is a good length. We’ll have plenty of time to do some hands-on mending and troubleshoot individual mending problems. I have also done workshops in 2 hours and 4 hours.
I can provide the materials and tools to share - often people bring their favourite sewing tools with them too.
I’ll also provide detailed printed handouts for everyone to take home.
You can provide cups of tea and biscuits to your guests, or even lunch if the workshop spans the middle of the day.
I’m based in nipaluna/Hobart. I’d prefer not to travel too far, but let me know if you are further afield.
I’ll work out the final cost once we lock in the details. As a rough guide, depending on how many people attend and how long the workshop is, it’ll cost between $40 - $96 per person.
HOW TO BOOK
You can either reach out to me here or click ‘Add to Cart’ below, you won’t be charged for now, but you’ll be prompted to put in a few contact details. Either way, I’ll get back to you via email in the next 3-5 business days.
I’m looking forward to building a visible mending workshop that is just right for you.
A custom workshop review
“Nat ran a relaxed and enjoyable visible mending workshop at my home for a small group of my friends and family. Although our sewing skills ranged from basic to very highly skilled, each of us learned a lot from Nat. With the support of her fabulous printed resources, we started applying our new skills and sharing photos over the next weeks.
Nat’s gentle and skilled approach to teaching was empowering and motivating. Nat was so organised and flexible that planning a bespoke program to suit participants’ interests and needs was easy and enjoyable. I would highly recommend hosting one of Nat’s visible mending workshops for a group of your friends.”
